The Weeknd brought his “Opera” to the Big D

The Weeknd ascends from the floor with his "Opera"

After three years of canceled tours, The Weeknd is finally preforming.

Able “The Weeknd” Tesfaye had plans to go on tour back in 2020 after his 4th studio album After Hours. He was going to preform 57 concerts in the United States, the United Kingdom, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and France with special guests Sabrina Claudio and Don Toliver. After announcing his tour, a month later, The Weeknd had to cancel his tour due to the rapid report in cases from COVID-19.

The Weeknd brought Mike Dean and Snoh Aalegra, as well as his “opera”, to the Big D. He blew the roof off at AT&T Stadium. He played all of his hits like “The Hills”, “Starboy”, and so much, including some of his new songs from his Dawn FM album like “Out of Time” and “Is there Someone Else?”. He ended the show with his most popular song “Blinding Light” with everyone’s LED wristbands. He made his fans a part of the performance and it was amazing. He also told his fans in Dallas that when he tours again in the US, he’ll do two nights in Dallas.

Even though he had to cancel his tour, The Weeknd found ways to entertain his fans through the pandemic with him preforming on top of a 100-floor New York skyscraper and the virtually stage on TikTok.

After only three months in the pandemic, his song Blinding Lights reached number one in the top 100 Billboards. The Weeknd’s stayed in the top 100 for about three years, making his song the new number 1 song of all time beating Chubby Checker The Twist. With this accomplishment, The Weeknd knew he had to preform the song live in front of his fans.

He was scheduled to perform his After Hours tours in early 2022, but later cancel it again “due to constraints of arenas and the demand for more shows”. He wanted to do something special that a basketball arena couldn’t provide. He also canceled the tour because he dropped his 5th studio album Dawn FM and had to make a lot of changes to his set list.

On his Instagram, he announced his After Hours Til Dawn World tour. He has sold-out 11 stadiums including Dallas.
